Too long since posting. Flying as much as I can get away with, although the drought seems to be diminished here in Texas, the weather is Texas winter typically uncooperative for planning anything outdoors on the weekends. Trying to plan a trip to either Pagosa Springs or Virginia, and with the other contraints, it's been rare that a good flying window has been available for the last month.
But locally I have been in the air, taking various passengers. Took up Patti Sue this last weekend, Brad Wagner (Wayne's son), and Mike Collier. Other pax include Lee and Marsha Finch, Miss Betty.
I've got one more line in my first log book. 350 hours.
Need to start working again on instrument currency. After that, I think I might get a tailwheel endorsement.
Wayne's airplane is very close to done. We basically just need to weigh it and then schedule the inspection. But he's got a list of items to finish up, and he wants to to start the engine first. I'm guessing that might happen in two more weekends, but I fully expect he will be flying by the end of March.
I'm chomping at the bit to start an 8 kit. The empennage is relatively cheap. That would give me something to do on rainy days. But when that was done, I'd have to spring for the wing kit. At ~$7K, that can't be classified as cheap. And I'd have to find an engine at some point.
